New volunteer opportunity at women’s support center.  Yachil Azentik provides housing, counseling, educational opportunities and support services for indigenous women who due to pregnancy outside marriage (often from rape or incest) are forced from their homes.  The Casa Comunitaria is a safe space for the women during their last months of pregnancy.  Volunteers help with hospital visits and birth related paper work (Spanish is a second language for the majority of the women), facilitating or creating workshops in the areas of sexual health, self esteem, child care, literacy, ceramics and other crafts.  Contact info@chiapaspeacehouse.org for more information.
