The CASA Collective

Saludos a tod@s from Oaxaca!

We’d like to update you about recent changes here at CASA, as we continue working in solidarity with social movements and grassroots groups in Oaxaca.

CASA supports cross-border movement building for collective liberation. International solidarity is important in bringing about the long-term change sought by many in the Americas to make fundamental and systemic change possible. At CASA, we work in direct solidarity with various groups, including indigenous communities, women’s cooperatives, political prisoner advocates, community-based media projects, and autonomous centers.

In addition to maintaining a space in Oaxaca open for allies and community members to engage in collaborative action, we also publish our monthly newsletter to keep you informed on the latest issues and events in Oaxaca, Mexico and throughout Latin America.  You can also stay connected with us on Facebook or Twitter. Our goal is to keep our base in the U.S. connected to our work on the ground in Oaxaca, and we hope you will support us in that effort.

Currently we are undertaking some major changes and exciting new initiatives to strengthen and expand solidarity organizing.  In an effort to be more effective, we are focusing our work on food sovereignty, community-based media, and arts for social justice and autonomy.  We are also building strategic and intentional alliances with people of color, immigrants, indigenous peoples, and low-income peoples based in the U.S.; as well as communities in resistance in Central and South America. As before, we continue to organize delegations for youth, students, and community members to connect with communities in Oaxaca, and gain first-hand experience of the effects of neoliberal policies in Oaxaca.  But we need your support to keep this going.

CASA is funded entirely through grassroots fundraising efforts made by individuals like you.  We operate on a shoestring budget and rely on donations to keep our doors open. Our current funding will only last through the end of this month.  Please help us raise $450 by the end of April to keep our offices open in May. We appreciate your support to continue with our work. All it takes is a $25 donation to help CASA operate for a day. All donations are tax-deductible.

Will you join with us, the people of Oaxaca, and thousands like us in fighting for a better society, for all of the Americas?

If you would like to support us, there are two ways to contribute. The easiest way to donate is online, via our Contribute page. But you can also donate via checks made out to "Rights Action" with "CASA" specified in the memo line. Mail checks to:

Your monthly or annual donation provides the most stability for CASA, but one time donations of any amount are genuinely appreciated. Thank you for all your time and support for building healthy and dignified communities.
