Seeking Alumni and Organizational Relations Coordinator
The Chiapas Peace House Project is currently seeking candidates for its Alumni and Organizational Relations Coordinator. [actually, we are no longer searching --ed]
The coordinator is a member of the Peace House's Board of Directors. As a small organization with only one staff person and one intern, the seven member Board plays a vital role in the functioning and long term planning for the organization. Members serve two-year terms (with possible re-election), and are activley involved in guiding our social justice solidarity work in Chiapas and in the United States. Each member coordinates a specific aspect of Peace House operations and may lead a separate committee (see below for the expectations of the alumni coordinator). We are a growing organization that depends on the excitement, involvment, input, skills and experience of all its members. We are seeking candidates with experience in Latin American solidarity work, or other social justice activism. The application deadline is December 31, 2005.
Expectations for all board members:
All Board Members are expected to attend Board meetings, work on promoting the work of the peace house, participate in the Board e- mail list and respond to questions that pertain to their responsibilities, in a timely fashion. In addition, each Board Member is expected to set bi-annual goals for their peace house work. These goals will be reviewed with the other Board Members and the Field Coordinator. Every six months Board Members will publish a report of their activities to the Board and will evaluate, with the Chair and the Field Coordinator, the completion of their bi-annual goals.
Expectations for the Alumni and Organizational Relations Coordinator:
The Alumni and Organizational Relations Coordinator will serve as a voice for former Peace House volunteers (alumni) on the Board of Directors, develop and maintain a network for the alumni, plan alumni events, encourage alumni involvement in fundraising, promotion, speaking tours and non-Chiapas based Peace House programs. Additionally, the Alumni and Organizational Relations Coordinator will maintain contact and develop projects with organizational partners (i.e. plan co-delegations, events, etc.).
