Resuming Subdelegation Zero

The Delegation returns to San Cristobal for the burial of Commander Ramona, and modifies its tour calendar.

Communique from the Clandestine Indigenous Revolutionary Committee - General Command of the Zapatista National Liberation Army.

Mexico

8th of January, 2006

To the Adherents to the Sixth and the Other Campaign:
To the People of Mexico:
Companions:
Brothers and Sisters:

As is already known, this past January 6th, our companion Commander Romona, member of our organized political leadership, passed away.

Commander Ramona, more than being our leader, had been converted to a symbol of the struggle, of the struggle constructed from below and from the left. Her loss has signified to us a great pain that is very difficult to express. It is because of this that we can't say more now of our companion Comandante and about what her absence is and will be for us.

The same day of January the Sixth, the Sixth Commision of the EZLN (as part of the first step of our participation in the "Other Campaign") met in the city of Tonala, Chiapas, when we found a great pain had arrived in our heart. Given the magnitude of the misfortune, in that moment we suspended activities, and the delegation of the Sixth Comission of the EZLN returned to the city of San Cristobal de Las Casas, to wait there for indications from the CCRI-CG of the EZLN.

Without leaving the pain of the death of Commander Ramona, the Commanders met in their respective zones to analyze, discuss and make decisions about the national tour of the Sixth Commission. The decision is the following:

The Sixth Commission of the EZLN is ordered to, after the burial of our Commander Romona, to resume your travel to all the states of the Mexican Republic and comply with your mission of listening to our companions of the "Other Campaign" in all of Mexico and the United States, to call the people of Mexico to enter into the Sixth Declaration, and to help make great the small word and unite the struggles that are alone. Because of this, some adjustments were made in our tour program, in a way that accomplishes the activities that were suspended in the coast and Sierras of Chiapas.

We dutifully request to the adherents in Mexico and the American Union, that they excuse us for problems that these changes cause. In the cases of Chiapas, Quitana Roo and Yucatan, we have been put in contact with their respective commisions and they, nobly and generously, have agreed to make the necessary changes so that, respecting the number of days that have been established for each state, modified the calendar. We hope that the companions of the "Other" in the rest of Mexico and in the United States support us as well.
