It is sad to say and hard to imagine, but this is the last newsletter that Alex and I will be writing for the Chiapas Peace House.
After nine months of working as the co-field directors, we are
returning to the United States, to our families, and to the struggles
of our own country. Since September, we've had the profound experience
of watching and helping the Peace House grow and solidify, of working
with a wide range of amazing activists and organizers from all over the
world, and of learning first hand from the incredible movement that the
Zapatistas have created here in Chiapas. We return home with new
skills, new energy, a deeper understanding of the fight for community
and against neoliberalism, and a profound commitment to the power of
international solidarity. We look forward to continuing our work with
the Chiapas Peace House Project from the states. In September, we will
be launching a speaking tour, heading from Washington, DC to Portland,
Maine. We plan to show o! ne of the two documentaries we've been
working on during our time here, talk about the situation in Chiapas,
and raise money for the Chiapas Peace House Project and the Chiapas
Indymedia Center. If you live somewhere along our route and are
interested in arranging for us to speak at your school/church/co-
op/anarchist collective/etc·we would be delighted. You can reach us at
