Press Release
Communiqué from the APPO Spokesperson

1. As has been made known by media outlets, today, a convoy of Federal Police (PFP) suffered an accident on the Oaxaca-México highway, leaving one federal officer dead and various others wounded. We regret that because of a political error by Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón, a human life has been lost and many others have been hurt, for which we express to their family our most sincere condolences.

2. We call the members of the Federal Police (PFP) and the army not to repress the people of Oaxaca, you all, too, are part of this pueblo, and we call you to disobey the orders given to you by your superior officers, and not repress. The function of the army is to safeguard the sovereignty of the people, and to defend our country, and for those reasons we ask you to disobey the orders of the sátrapas that currently misgovern the country, and are using you to massacre the people.

3. We manifest our openness to dialogue, we have always been open to it. Since Friday a table of dialogue has been sought of the Secretary of the Interior (Secretaría de Gobernación), but we haven’t gotten a response. We denounce this, since the opposite of dialogue is coming from the Federal Government.

4. We call the people of Oaxaca to mobilize peacefully, in all parts of the state, and especially to attend today’s march at 2 p.m. which will leave from the monument to Juárez (near the exit to Tuxtepec-
