Fifth Mesoamerican Forum
Article written by Colin Bossen
Events in San Salvador are wrapping up as the Fifth Mesoamerican Forum concludes. The conference brought together civil society and organizations from seven countries of Central and South America to discuss broad organizing strategies against the threat of neoliberal development projects such as the Plan Puebla Panama and Central American Free Trade Area. High on the agenda was the increasing role of migration to the United States or Mexico and the detrimental effect this is having on communities and the women and children who are left behind. Full reports of discussions, proposals and plans of action can be found at Chiapas Indymedia website and the official website of the Forum. [Reference: Centro de Medios Independientes]
